NBA Free Agency Rankings

This blog post I will be talking about what teams defied all expectations and won free agency and what teams went below expectation and had more of a dud of a free agency. I will be giving my 3 winners and losers of free agency.

Winner #1 Clippers

The LA Clippers absolutely had one of the best free agency in this team’s history. They were able to sign big name free agent and 2019 finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and to pair with him made a blockbuster trade for SF and MVP front runner Paul George.

Loser #1 Knicks

The New York Knicks completely flopped this FA. With big intentions of signing KD and Kyrie Irving missed out on both of them and had to settle for Julius Randle. I’m not saying Julius is a bad player not at all he had a great break out year in New Orleans but with the expectations of signing two of the top players in the league it was a total dud.

Winner #2 Nets

The Brooklyn Nets had a great FA by signing 3 great players. Nets were able to pair KD and Kyrie Irving together during FA. Also they signed C Deandre Jordan making this team one of the best in the east.

Loser #2 Magic

The Orlando Magic had a fairly bad year in terms of this years FA. The Magic signed C Nikola Vucevic to a 4 year 100 million dollar deal. Outside of that they signed really no one. Personally I think it would have been a smarter idea if you let Vucevic walk during FA and signed role players to start fully rebuilding.

Winner #3 Warriors

The Warriors had 2 great UFA coming this summer and took matters into their own hands. Losing KD and Cousins was a huge blow to that roster but made a great decision to make a sign and trade with young and upcoming star D’Angelo Russell helping improve the Warriors back court to the best in the league by far.

Loser #3 Kings

The final loser of the 2019 NBA FA was the Sacramento Kings. Instead of building around the young core of Fox and Hield they chose to spend their money on bad contracts such as Harrison Barnes for a 4 year 94 million dollar contract and Dewayne Dedmon.

NBA Summer League

The NBA Summer League is all rapped up and done with but lets take some time to look back and see what were some of the main takeaways from the Summer League. NBA Summer League is a way for rookies to show off that they do have skill or make a name for themselves. One of these rookies making a name for himself was Tyler Herro. Tyler was really a nobody drafted 13th overall by the Miami Heat and showed everyone wrong by dropping 18 points with 5 three pointers to go along with it. His Summer League high is 25 points in a Heat win. Other rookies like Zion and Ja were unable to show what they could do choosing the safe route by sitting. Some other notable rookies that looked very good during Summer League were Coby White, Jaxson Hayes, and Carsen Edwards.
